Nikaho City in Akita Prefecture is surrounded by mountains and the sea. It was created through a merger in 2005. Local specialties include deep-fried soba noodles, a popular gourmet dish, and sandfish caught in the sea. Tourist attractions include the Nikaho Plateau, which offers not only exercise and dining options but also a campsite. Seishi Park is also located here, where cherry blossoms bloom the earliest in Akita Prefecture, allowing visitors to be the first to experience spring. Around 1,000 cherry trees bloom around the pond. Nikaho City's Kanaura hot springs are also located here. Here, you can bathe while gazing at the sea, and enjoy fresh seafood from the nearby Kanaura fishing port.
