Shinshiro City in Aichi Prefecture is located in the center of East Mikawa, in the eastern part of the prefecture, and borders Shizuoka Prefecture to the east. The city's area is the second largest in the prefecture at 499 square kilometers, approximately 84% of which is covered by forests. Famous as the site of the Battle of Nagashino-Shitarahara, where the allied forces of Oda and Tokugawa fought against the Takeda army during the Sengoku period, the city is popular with history buffs thanks to the numerous historical sites scattered throughout the city.
