Okazaki City is the birthplace of Hatcho miso, a product widely recognized nationwide. Okazaki also plays an important role as one of the central cities of the West Mikawa region. The city is also gradually becoming a commuter town, a fact that is due in part to the presence of many automobile manufacturer-related companies. Tourist attractions in the city include Okazaki Park, Kuragari Valley, and Higashi Park Zoo. The city also hosts numerous events, such as the Okazaki Tourism Summer Festival Fireworks Display.
