About Fuso Town
Fuso Town in Niwa County flourished during the Meiji period as a distribution center for sericulture and raw silk. Today, it is a thriving commuter town for Nagoya City, but it also boasts extensive rural areas and a thriving agricultural industry. A local specialty is Moriguchi Daikon, which is said to have been presented to feudal lords during the Edo period. Other products include miso-pickled burdock and dried daikon radish pickles. The town's intangible cultural asset, the "folded long-handled umbrella," is said to have been used by Toyotomi Hideyoshi during cherry blossom viewings and is now so well-known that it is even exported overseas. Kisogawa Fuso Green Park, which stretches across the riverbed, features a cycling path, a lawn area, a playground, and a soccer field. You can also observe the wild birds that fly over the Kiso River here.
