Nagakute City is known for the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute. Historical sites from ancient battlefields, such as Mt. Mihatayama, Kubizuka, and Mt. Irogane, remain throughout the city. The western part of Nagakute City is adjacent to Nagoya City, and has developed as a commuter town for the city, with many residential areas and commercial facilities such as shopping malls being built. On the other hand, the eastern part of the city retains a rich natural environment, and is home to a traditional, idyllic rural landscape. It combines aspects of both a modern city and a town rich in nature. In recent years, various initiatives have been undertaken to take advantage of this urbanity and abundant nature, with the aim of realizing urban agriculture.
