About Inuyama City
Inuyama City is located in the northernmost part of Aichi Prefecture, bordering Gifu Prefecture to the north across the Kiso River, Komaki City and Kasugai City to the south, and Fuso Town and Oguchi Town to the west. Urban areas, farmland, and industrial areas are found in the western part of the city. The hills to the east are covered with lush greenery, and the Japanese holly tree, a nationally designated natural monument, grows naturally here. Small settlements have developed here since ancient times, and numerous ancient tombs remain. During the Edo period, the city flourished as a castle town for the Naruse clan. The city is home to Inuyama Castle, a designated national treasure, and the original town layout remains, making it a popular tourist spot. The Inuyama Festival, held in the city, is designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property and is a popular town festival.
