Hekinan City in Aichi Prefecture is located within 40 km of the prefectural capital, Nagoya City, and is surrounded by water: Aburagafuchi to the north, the Yahagi River to the east, and Kinuura Port to the west and south. Since Kinuura Port was designated an important port in 1957, the city has developed into a coastal industrial area to this day.
