About Anjo City
Anjo City is located in the center of Aichi Prefecture, on the west bank of the Yahagi River, in the center of the Okazaki Plain. A diluvial plateau runs through most of the city. The southeastern part is an alluvial plain formed by the Yahagi River and other rivers, and the city has very little elevation change. The urban area is formed around Anjo Station, with the rest of the city being dotted with scattered settlements. During the Meiji period, the city was known as the Denmark of Japan due to its vigorous agricultural efforts. Today, its main industry is machinery manufacturing, primarily the automobile industry. The Anjo Tanabata Festival, held in the city every August, is a major tourist attraction. This festival attracts as many as one million visitors each year.
