About Tobishima Village
Tobishima Village in Kaifu County, Aichi Prefecture, is home to a traditional rural landscape. Since ancient times, the area has been a center of rice cultivation, vegetable and other agricultural crops, and flower cultivation. Local specialties include leeks and spinach. However, the southern part of the village is home to a coastal industrial zone that occupies a corner of Nagoya Port, making it an important logistics hub with a variety of businesses, including transportation companies, thermal power plants, and steel-related businesses. As a result, the village is known for its exceptionally high financial strength. A popular tourist spot is the Tobishima Village Local History Museum, where visitors can learn about local performing arts, agriculture, and lifestyles of the past. The exotic Meiji-era relic, the Hexagonal Brick Warehouse, is also famous.
