Kanie Town in Kaifu County borders Nagoya City and six other cities and villages in the prefecture. The town is blessed with a rich natural environment, with the Nikko River, Kanie River, and Saya River flowing through it. Many historical sites remain, including Ryushoin Temple, which houses the Eleven-Headed Kannon, a designated Important Cultural Property of Japan. The main hall and plaque of Sunari Shrine are also designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan. Tourist attractions include the Nobunaga Highway, said to be the route Oda Nobunaga took during his siege of Kiyosu, and Tennobashi Bridge. The 400-year-old Sunari Festival hosts numerous events and attracts many visitors. Local specialties include figs and funamiso (miso paste). The town also hosts the "Crab ONE Grand Prix" and is actively involved in developing local gourmet cuisine.
