About Ama City

Located in the western part of Aichi Prefecture, Ama City is conveniently located about 15 minutes by public transport from central Nagoya. In recent years, the city has been developing into a commuter town for Nagoya, with residential areas and commercial facilities such as shopping centers being developed. At the same time, the city's lush rural landscape remains strong, and it is developing as a lush city. Agriculture is thriving, and vegetables such as komatsuna, mizuna, and Aichi Honcho eggplant are local specialties. Major tourist attractions include Rengeji Temple, a temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, and Urushibe Shrine, a shrine dedicated to lacquer and lacquerware. Another popular facility, Shippo Art Village, where you can experience making cloisonné ware, is also popular.
