Located between Nagoya and Toyota, Miyoshi City has seen rapid residential development in recent years as a commuter town for both cities, resulting in an increase in population. As a result, shopping malls and other commercial facilities are being built one after another, and with factories of Toyota Motor Corporation and various other companies located here, the city is financially stable and known as a comfortable place to live. It is also famous for canoeing, with Miyoshi Pond and Hotagaike Pond within the city serving as some of Japan's leading athletic venues, hosting many competitions. Various events are also held at Miyoshi Pond, with the Cherry Blossom Festival and Miyoshi Pond Festival attracting large crowds. One of the most popular tourist spots is Yoshigaike Wetland, where rare wetland plants can be seen.
